Circuit information

The German Grand Prix is held on the circuit near the village of Hockenheim in Baden-Württemberg, approximately 90 kilometers south of Frankfurt am Main. The track was originally built in 1938 and first hosted a Formula One race in 1970. The originally 6.8 km long circuit used to have a very fast straight going through the forest and required a lot from the race cars. In 2002 the track was dramatically shortened, with the long, sweeping forest section chopped off to shorten it significantly. The new layout was designed by Herman Tilke, the architect who was the mastermind of the most recent race tracks.

The current, 4.6 kilometers long circuit has 17 turns (8 rights and 9 lefts) including a hairpin after the parabolica providing excellent overtaking opportunity. The circuit ends in the Motodrom section with a spectacular view over the preceding turn.

From 2007 onwards the German Grand Prix will be held in Hockenheimring and Nürburgring in rotation each year while the former European Grand Prix was awarded to Valencia.

Make sure that you buy your F1 tickets in advance to see the new rising German stars in action in their home country.
